Grzegorz Łapiński is a composer of music for feature films, short films, theatre productions, Polish Radio Theatre plays, and audiobooks. In his work with image and text, the first question he asks himself is not “what kind of music should I write,” but rather “does this scene need music at all?” If the answer is yes, the next step is to search for the meaning of its presence—not as illustration, but as an additional, invisible layer of meaning. In this way, music can become an emotional scenography: something that does not replicate what is visible, but reveals what is hidden.
